Former WWTI employee and General Brown Graduate appointed General Manager of WHDF-TV

Lockwood Broadcast Group has announced the appointment of Maryann Balbo as the new General Manager of WHDF- TV in Huntsville, Alabama (DMA #79) effective April 27, 2015. Balbo has a diverse background in broadcast, digital, cable, and newspaper that will allow her to be an innovative media leader at WHDF-TV (The Valley’s CW).

Maryann worked at WWTI (ABC50) from 1995-1996 with Brian Hunziker as a part-time master control operator. “He was the first to give me a shot in the business!” Balbo said. 

“I couldn’t be more excited to join the WHDF and Lockwood Broadcast Group team. An experienced and talented staff with trusted programming is a perfect fit for my style. I look forward to continuing to build on the extraordinary momentum already in place. The Huntsville market already feels like home,” Balbo said.

Most recently, Balbo was the Director of Marketing and Digital at WTVD-ABC11 in Raleigh, NC. She has also held positions at the Tampa Bay Times (Tampa, FL) WNCN-NBC 17 (Raleigh, NC), and Time Warner Cable/AOL News 14 Carolina (Morrisville, NC).

Lockwood’s other stations include WBXX (CW) and WKNX (Independent) in Knoxville, TENN; WCWG (CW) in Greensboro,NC; WSKY in Hampton,VA; and KTEN in Sherman TXAda OK, which carries programming from NBC, ABC and CW.
