(WROC-TV) – Governor Cuomo has vowed to help Puerto Rican families sue the Trump Administration over the response to Hurricane Maria.

At a event Sunday in the Bronx, the Governor argued the Trump Administration failed to provide adequate assistance to Puerto Rico after the hurricane. FEMA data shows Puerto Rico received far less funding and resources compared to efforts in Houston after Hurricane Harvey.

Cuomo claims, the administration failed to follow the law.

“We’re going to hold King Trump to the Constitution of the United States – and the Constitution states equal protection under the law. Puerto Rico did not receive equal protection under the law.  They got a different level of care than Texas, and Florida and other states,” said Cuomo.

A report released last week shows more than 3,000 people died in the aftermath of the storm in Puerto Rico.

Cuomo did not provide details of his planned legal action.
