A group of local volunteers want to help plan and promote Watertown’s historic Thompson Park for the future. The group, Friends of Thompson Park, are looking for City Council support in establishing an endowment fund that will be used on future projects within the century old park. Last night during their work session, the council informally agreed to lend support to the group. The park was built in 1904 by the Olmstead family, which also helped design Central Park in New York City.
