A Hepatitis C summit was held earlier this week in New York. It was the first time officials felt the need to organize to discuss the growing problem.
According to records, there are now about 200,000 New Yorkers living with the disease. There were 75 new confirmed cases of Hep C in Jefferson County just last year.
Health officials are pushing for state lawmakers to assemble a task force in order to try and combat the increasing amount of people diagnosed with Hepatitis C.
