Should heroin overdoses be considered homicides?

A bill in Albany is proposing just that and some North Country lawmakers are on board, including Assemblyman Ken Blankenbush.

If approved, the law would allow police to arrest drug dealers on charges of murder or manslaughter if someone dies using heroin purchased it from them.

Assemblyman Blankenbush told 7 News he is calling on the Legislature to pass “Laree’s Law” before the end of session this month.
