JCC Presidential Update

Local News

On behalf of the Board of Trustees, I want to thank the campus community for your time and interest as the finalist candidates in the Presidential Search visited our campus in late March. The active participation of faculty, staff, students and community members in the forums conveyed to the candidates that this College is indeed a vital part of this North Country community and is eager to carry momentum built over the last ten years into the future. Your participation in the process and the candid feedback you have provided are very much appreciated. More than 370 pages of comments were uploaded electronically for Trustees to review prior to beginning deliberations.

Additionally, we sincerely thank the members of the Presidential Search Committee who spent countless hours in a monumental effort that brought four strong finalist candidates to campus and who then graciously hosted the candidates in multiple forums.

At this juncture, I can provide a final update on the status of the presidential search which has once again entered a confidential phase. On March 30, the Board of Trustees deliberated in Executive Session, with search consultant Jesse Thompson facilitating, and selected our choice for Jefferson’s next president. Later this month, the individual selected by the Trustees will meet with Chancellor Zimpher and members of the SUNY Board of Trustees in anticipation of confirmation at the May 3rd meeting of the SUNY Board of Trustees. We are hopeful that both SUNY and Jefferson Community College can announce Jefferson’s new president on that day.

Once again, thank you to all who participated in this important process. We look forward to working with the campus and the community-at-large in welcoming Jefferson’s 6th president and helping that person begin what we hope will be a long and successful career at Jefferson Community College.
