The proposed Jefferson County budget for the coming fiscal year is being released today.
The budget keeps taxes the same for the most part.
The tax rate would only increase a quarter of a percent, meaning a home valued at $100,000 would see it’s taxes go up approximately two dollars.
There are no cuts to services as 10 vacant positions within the county will be eliminated.
The budget totals $248 million and will remain under the state mandated tax cap.
The first budget workshop for legislators will be this evening.
