A Jefferson County man is accused of illegally entering a town of Champion home and then leading police on a high-speed chase.

According to documents, 56-year-old James Brodt of Natural Bridge did not have permission when he entered the home at about 9:30 p.m. back on March 25. In an attempt to evade officers, Brodt allegedly reached speeds of 80 miles-per-hour in a 40-miles-per-hour zone.

Brodt was eventually stopped on Route 812 in the town of Diana and charged with third-degree trespassing, unlawfully fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle, as well as speeding and other violations.

He was taken to jail on $2,500 bail and is next due back in court in May.
