Although it has yet to be fully approved, Lewis County officials are moving forward with plans to build an off-site center for Jefferson Community College. The Watertown Daily Times reports Lewis County lawmakers agreed to begin the bidding process to find a firm to build a 22,000-square-foot complex to go near Maple Ridge Center in Lowville.

The plan is for JCC–which previously approved the project–to offer up specific training and non-credited courses in agri-business. However, Jefferson County legislators have yet to give their official green light for the project–the county funds 25 percent of the college’s budget. Lawmakers are reviewing documents and are expected to give their approval in the coming weeks.
