We have more information regarding the possible fate of the closed-off pool at Thompson Park in Watertown. Mayor Joe Butler Jr. says there is not going to be a study done on the subject, disputing a story in the Watertown Daily Times.

Mayor Butler claims that $37,000 has been set aside in the budget to potentially go toward hiring a design firm.

The Times initially reported that money would likely go toward a study to determine the feasibility of the project.

Reviving the shuttered pool by resurfacing it would cost $1 million, replacing would likely have a price tag of over $2 million.

According to the Times, council members Mark Walczyk and Cody Horbacz are in favor of bringing it back, while Teresa Macaluso and Stephen Jennings indicated they aren’t ready to focus on the pool–Mayor Butler says he has concerns over the money it could cost taxpayers.
