BINGHAMTON, N.Y. – A Town of Colesville woman has been indicted on multiple charges stemming from the death of a child in February.
Broome County Grand Jury handed up an indictment of 30-year-old Serina Madden for murdering her 10-year-old daughter Belladonna Loke.
The Broome County District Attorney’s Office accuses Madden of severe neglect, including starvation, malnutrition, and lack of medical care.
Madden is also charged with manslaughter and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child for allegedly allowing her two-year old daughter and nine-year old son to play and sleep in the same room with the dead child.
Police believe Loke died on Saturday, February 17, of this year, but her death was not reported until the following day.
Loke had been suffering from a serious medical condition before her death, the specifics of which have not been released.
State Police Captain Scott Heggelke says cases like these are complicated.
