A Muslim group is taking issue with the words on a 9-11 memorial in one town in New York.

The memorial in Owego pays tribute to those killed 15 years ago by “Islamic terrorists.”

It’s the use of that phrase that the Islamic Organization of the Southern Tier thinks could be harmful to Muslims living in the area.

The group believes the words could actually encourage hatred and resentment towards Muslims.

They’d like the memorial to instead read either “al Qaeda terrorists” or just “terrorists.”

Officials in the town have been on record as saying that the wording on the memorial is not likely to change.
