Several weeks after being served an eviction notice, negotiations are underway once again between State Police and St. Lawrence County officials over space being rented by the state in the county’s public safety building. County officials served the eviction notice late last month, citing frustration over the lack of a new lease after the previous 20 year one expired in February of last year. Since that time, State Police have been paying the county $2800 on a month to month basis. On Monday, County Administrator Karen St. Hilaire met with the State Police to negotiate a new lease. Both sides are optimistic that a new agreement can be reached to keep the agency where it is.
