New York State Fair breaks all-time attendance record

EDDES, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) – The New York State Fair has broken its all-time attendance record this year.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo made the official announcement on Labor Day, the last day of the Fair. 

The new record was set at 1 pm. on Monday, with 1,258,000 people coming through the gates in 2018.

Mark and Laurie Bort, and their 4-year-old son Gavin, were the family that broke the record. 

The family is from Manlius and Chittenango. 

The previous record was 1,161,000.

This year, nine records were broken at the Fair, with seven of them being daily attendance records. 

In total, 1,279,010 people attended the Fair in 2018. 125,748 came out Monday for the Fair’s final day.
