Officials look to name bridge as memorial for Trooper Davis

With the help of state Senator Patty Ritchie, a bridge running over the Indian River in Theresa will soon be named after slain New York State Trooper Joel Davis.

Davis was allegedly shot and killed by Fort Drum soldier Justin Walters after responding to a “shots fired” call at Walters’ Theresa home.

Walters is accused of first shooting his wife Nichole to death before gunning down Davis.

On the recommendation from Theresa mayor Jonathan Walker, Senator Ritchie introduced legislation to name the span on Route 26 the New York State Trooper Joel R. Davis Memorial Bridge.
