Found not guilty of murder last fall, Oral “Nick” Hillary still has a criminal case pending in St. Lawrence County Court.
But before that can run its course, a judge must first rule if a special prosecutor should be called in to replace District Attorney Mary Rain.
Initially, Hillary was charged with criminal contempt in the build up to his being charged in the death of 12-year-old Garrett Phillips. That trail concluded in Hillary’s acquittal prior to the contempt case.
Now, the judge in contempt matter has asked Hillary’s attorney to provide more “support” to show why Rain should be removed from the case.
