Oneida County teen charged for father’s death

An Oneida County teenager considered to be a person of interest in a “suspicious death” was pulled over in Jefferson County on Wednesday night.

Police say 17-year-old Austin Parker, of Holland Patent, took off after his father, Fifty-two-year-old Steven Parker’s body was discovered yesterday afternoon in the backyard of their residence.

The father was allegedly killed about a month ago.

The son was eventually located in West Carthage and taken in by a village police officer.

After being questioned, Austin was officially charged with second-degree murder and sent to jail.

An autopsy is pending and police are asking anyone who may have information to contact them at 366-6000.
