There is now an open seat on the Jefferson County Board of Legislators. Jonathan Hirschey, who represents the Carthage area on the board, has submitted a formal letter of resignation. Hirschey is leaving the area to take a job downstate. He has served on the board since January 2014. Hirschey was a Republican. A fellow Republican will be appointed next month to serve out the remainder of Hirschey’s term as the representative of District 6.
