We now know the total amount of those “imperfections” on the floor of the new Watertown Fairgrounds Ice Arena. City Engineer Justin Wood told City Council members last night that there were over 70 spots of exposed wire mesh that needed. Wood said that the repairs included filling up the about-one-inch deep holes with material.
Wood said his department is still talking with the subcontractor who poured the concrete for arena’s the floor.
City Council also learned Monday that the cost of building a second court room at City Hall has jumped to $2 million total, up about $400,000 for the original estimate. Council plans at looking at possible alternative settings and seeking state help in finding space for the city’s two full-time judges.
