SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) – Syracuse Police are looking for a suspect or suspects who may have beaten a dog to death in its backyard.
Police say the dog’s owner called them around 6:30 a.m. on Oct. 26 to report that he had found his dog deceased in the yard.
The dog, a Chihuahua-mix, was in the backyard of a McBride Street home overnight and appeared to have been beaten with a blunt object.
The dog was found dead by her owner, Sam Crisp in the morning.
“I don’t really want anything to get even because Mimi’s life was worth too much to me,” said Crisp.
The two lived together for almost 22 years.
Crisp recalled going to Lowe’s and putting Mimi in the cart as they shopped. He says her death was tragic and is still fighting back tears every day.
Police say it appears that the suspect(s) may have passed through yards in the 400 block of East Division Street to gain access to the McBride Street backyard.
