Political group wants Watertown to hold ‘constitutional convention forum’

A political watchdog group is pushing for Watertown mayor Joe Butler Jr. to hold a forum on a constitutional convention.


The measure is up for ballot this November and Citizens Union, which is pushing for the convention, wants to get the word out to residents.
 
According to the Watertown Daily Times, officials with Citizens Union want Butler and Watertown to host an “educational forum.”
 
Every 20 years, the possibility of holding a constitutional convention is on the ballot, where its never received enough votes to go forward.
 
The Times reports a new Siena College poll showed 58 percent of people asked had not heard of the constitutional convention.
