The City of Watertown may have found a use a vacant building off of West Main St. that it owns. Superintendent of Public Works Gene Hayes is recommending that the property at 531 W. Main be looked at as a possible facility to house single stream recycling. It’s an issue that Mayor Jeff Graham has been proposing. The idea being that residents in the city should be able to leave all their recycling materials in one container to be picked up by city crews. Currently, the items have to be sorted by residents to be picked up. Hayes is recommending that the building could be used as a facility for a such a recycling program. The issue will be discussed at tonight’s city council meeting.
