The Potsdam Central School District has been forced to take several water sources, including a drinking fountain, out of service due to high levels of lead.
This past fall, New York required all schools across the state test every water source.
At Potsdam, eleven science lab sinks used for hand washing, five other sinks and the drinking fountain all were flagged for having more than the Health Department standard.
Potsdam Central sent a letter to students recently indicating that water to those areas has been shutoff until older faucets can be changed out.
The drinking fountain, according to the school, has already been replaced.
