President Trump to award Fort Drum soldier posthumously with the Medal of Honor

WSYR-TV – A Fort Drum soldier killed in 2007 in Iraq will receive the Medal of Honor posthumously from President Donald Trump.

Sgt. Travis W. Atkins is credited with saving the lives of his fellow soldiers by throwing himself on top of a suicide bomber. 

Atkins was 31 when he was killed.

He will be awarded at the White House on March 27.
