A major chunk of change could be coming to people in the north country who have been dealing with rising waters.

A bill proposed in the state Senate would open up $55 million in total in potential grants for property owners along Lake Ontario and the St. Lawrence River.

The Watertown Daily Times reports that the money would be broken down: up to $15,500 for homeowners; $30,000 for people with multiple dwellings; $50,000 for small businesses or farms; and $100,000 for any nonprofits lacking proper insurance.

Furthermore, municipalities could also apply for as much as $1 million each to help repair infrastucture damage caused by flooding waters.
