The speculation in St. Lawrence County is over: Mary Rain will not seek a second term.
Rain informed 7 News that she “will not be running” for re-election as District Attorney.
The announcement comes on the heels of Rain’s former Chief Assistant, David Haggard, throwing his hat in the ring for the position.
In regard to Haggard’s move, Rain says she dismissed him for a “lack of preparation” and that there are questions about his “good judgement.”
Rain was at the center of several controversies as DA, including the Oral “Nick” Hillary trial, which resulted in a not-guilty verdict.
