Rep. Stefanik suggests more review for transgender military policies

Local News

Military leaders “should be given the time and authority to consult with medical and personnel experts.”

That’s what a spokesperson for north country Congresswoman Elise Stefanik told the Watertown Daily Times.

The message came after President Donald Trump announced a ban on transgender people serving in the military.

The ban has since been questioned by Pentagon officials who want more clarification before going further.

Previously, Defense Secretary James Mattis was conducting a “six-month review” on the matter.

Stefanik’s office told the Times that policy review is critical to determine “its impacts on the force.”
