Rochester woman killed in motorcycle crash

A Rochester woman was killed in a motorcycle crash Sunday morning in the Town of Ellisburg.

The incident happened at the entrance to Southwick Beach State Park at the intersection of State Routes 3 and 193 at around 11 am.

State Police say two motorcycles were entering the park and had the right of way when a van failed to yield the right of way and drove into their paths.

Both motorcycles struck the vehicle.

Killed in the accident was 47 year old Bonnie Petrotta.

The other motorcyclist, 38 year old Mark Northrup of Rochester, was treated at Samaritan Medical Center for non life threatening injuries.

The driver of the van, 18 year old Christopher Waters of Camillus was charged with failure to yield the right of way and released pending further court action.
