It didn’t take long for the judge to render a verdict in the trial of Brenda Roth: Guilty on all counts.
Roth was on trial in Lewis County Court on manslaughter and criminally negligent homicide charges.
The judge, who also acted as jury, found her guilty of giving 15-year-old Derick Holton the prescription drugs that led to his overdose death at her Deer River home in 2014.
Roth is now facing five to 15 years in prison at her sentencing, which is scheduled for March 31–prosecutors said 12 years behind bars would adequate.
Holton’s mother could be heard crying after the verdict, saying it was “justice for my little boy.”
