U.S. Senator Charles E. Schumer today released the following statement in support of the three pending nominees to the International Joint Commission (IJC):
“Following the 2017 flooding, persistently high water levels throughout the Great Lakes, and the need to most effectively manage water levels in the Lake Ontario and St. Lawrence River water system, it is critical to have a fully-staffed and fully-functioning International Joint Commission. One that will use well-researched facts and concrete science to address pending and future issues. I have reviewed the three pending IJC nominees and will vote to support them. I urge my colleagues in the Republican majority to put them up for committee review and then a floor vote as soon as possible. I also urge Canada to nominate and confirm its three IJC Commissioners, since it takes four IJC members to conduct business,” said Senator Schumer.
