South Jefferson Central School District is hosting the “Come to the Table” community forum on Tuesday night, March 26th.
Families and community members are invited to join “Come to the Table” for some FREE spaghetti prepared by Mrs. Overton and the South Jefferson Food Service Department.
The format for the forum includes a spaghetti dinner and discussion over table talk topics such as: internet safety, the dangers of vaping, the reality and painful effects of human trafficking, and the growing presence of the heroin epidemic in northern New York.
As part of these discussions, students from South Jefferson SADD have researched the topics and will provide guidelines and strategies for dealing with and avoiding with scenarios involving these types of situations.
Additionally, South Jefferson CSD is pleased to welcome a panel of speakers who are very knowledgeable and have first-hand experience with these current social issues; Mr. Perry Golden will join the discussion with updates from the JC Drug Task Force, Dr. Maja Gray from Samaritan Emergency Medicine will share facts about vaping, Deputy Carrie Mangino will talk about the perils of the internet and precautions that can be taken to protect students, and the Petrie family shares their testimonial as a family who has battled addiction.
This well-rounded and well-informed panel will share information that can help prevent and/or intervene to protect and save our children. The investment in time for our youth is priceless.
