POTSDAM –  The St. Lawrence County Arts Council will hold a meet-the-artist event on Friday, January 18th, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the SLC Arts Gallery at the Potsdam Town Hall. Community members are invited to come as they are to meet artist Kevin Beary and view an exhibit of his work.

Kevin Beary of Colton is known for his paintings in Italy, where he exhibited in and around Florence. Beary explores the contrast between image and emptiness, the progression of color to form, the simultaneousness of present and past, and the harmony of chance and choice. Being a native New Yorker, Beary finds the solitude of the North Country inspiring, and expresses his passion for it in his abstract acrylic paintings, all of which are done on masonite.

At 5:00pm, Beary will discuss how he creates his paintings using a multi-stage process.

This exhibit at the SLC Arts Gallery at the Potsdam Town Hall, 18 Elm Street, is FREE, open to everyone, and wheelchair accessible. This exhibit will be on display through March 6th. The Gallery is open during Town Hall business hours, Mondays through Thursdays from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, and Fridays from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. Art sales benefit the artists and SLC Arts. For more information about this exhibit, contact SLC Arts at 315-265-6860, or visit http://slcartscouncil.org/event/beary/.
