St. Lawrence County has added its name to a growing list of New York counties suing opioid manufacturers.

According to the Watertown Daily Times, the county has jumped on an already pending “large scale, multi-defendant opioid litigation.”

St. Lawrence County joins Suffolk, Erie, Broome, Orange, Dutchess, Seneca Sullivan and Schenectady using a New York City based firm to sue opioid makers for purposely misleading people about the dangers of the drugs.

The Times reports a meeting is set for next month between the law firm and some county legislators to further discuss the case.
