North Country Congresswoman Elise Stefanik issued a statement late Tuesday night, responding to President Obama’s final State of the Union address before Congress.
“Tonight President Obama spoke to a nation that overwhelmingly believes our country is headed in the wrong direction.
Families across our country and across our district need better jobs and higher wages, and they are concerned that our government is not doing enough to keep our nation safe.
This year I will continue working hard with my House colleagues on behalf of families in our district to put forth a vision for broad-based tax reform that will make our tax code flatter, fairer and simpler for our businesses to compete across the globe.
I will also be working to reduce our out of control regulatory code that burdens small businesses and passes additional costs onto consumers.
And I will continue to build upon my record of finding commonsense fixes to our healthcare system to reduce costs and improve the quality of care families receive.”
Stefanik was joined at the State of Union by West Point Commander Brigadier General Diana Holland, who recently served at Ft. Drum.
