Student loan debt in the state is more than double what it was a decade ago.

State Comptroller Tom DiNapoli recently released a report finding that the growing debt is likely the result of rising college costs and an increase in people taking out student loans.

The Times Union reports that tuition, fees and room and board at four-year institutions has risen by more than 50-percent over the last decade for in-state students at public and private New York Schools.
