The coldest February on record is having an impact on the City of Watertown’s water service, keeping department crews busy. Officials say the colder than normal temperatures have reached the four feet underground, wreaking having with some of the water lines. Three main breaks were reported Monday in the areas of Morrison Street, Harewood Avenue, and Snell Street. Mains were repaired Sunday night on Central Street and East Lynde Street. Over forty homes and businesses were affected. Crews have had to work overtime to keep up. If crews are able to thaw your service and direct you to run water, do not discontinue running it for any reason during the suggested time frame. While air temperatures may reach 20 or 30 degrees, ground temperatures do not change and frost levels may deepen. Service problems can be reported daily to 315-785-7757. The after hours emergency number is 315-785-7845.
