Watertown, NY – The Jefferson County Historical Society is pleased to announce the hiring of a new Collection’s Manager at the Museum, Ms. Christine Godfrey.
“This is the first time in several years that the JCHS will have a full-time curator on staff. With a collection of over 100,000 artifacts, we are excited to bring greater accessibly to our collection for local researchers and history lovers, along with some exciting new exhibits.” – Executive Director, Jordan Walker
Ms. Godfrey is a native of Watertown, NY who started volunteering with the Jefferson County Historical Society when she was 15 years old. She attended SUNY Oswego where she graduated with a B.A. degree in History and Gender Studies and went on to earn a M.A. degree in Museum Science from Syracuse University. Prior to becoming the Collections Manager, Christine was a Historic Interpreter with the Sackets Harbor Battlefield State Historic Site.
The month of January will be dedicated to updating several exhibits, to include:
· The Pre-Contact Archaeological Room
· The Jefferson County Room
· Olive Paddock’s Bedroom
· The Front Parlor
The next event will be the Paddock Ice Festival, February 24, 2017.
The Jefferson County Historical Society has for 130 years collected and preserved a documentary record of our county and its people.
