The jury will begin deliberations this morning in the Robert Bartlett murder trial in St. Lawrence County. They were sent home for the day Monday after hearing closing arguments in the case. The 43 year old Bartlett is accused of suffocating 82 year old Betty Babcock in 2011 and putting her remains in a homemade tomb that was then buried on his property in the Town of Stockholm. He is also accused of illegally collecting her benefits. Babcock’s remains were unearthed by police in March 2014 following an investigation. Testimony was interrupted late Monday morning after a juror was found to be nodding off. That juror was admonished by Judge Jerome Richards, but neither the prosecution or defense made a motion to dismiss that juror.
