GEDDES, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) – You’ve probably seen, or heard, Laurence Segal around the New York State Fairgrounds as he collects cans to raise money for Laurence Segal’s Cans for Cancer.

The money he raises goes to Upstate Cancer Center, the American Cancer Society, as well as the Carol M. Baldwin Breast Cancer Research Fund.

Laurence is asking all fairgoers to please not steal the cans. He says thousands of them were stolen from a trailer on the grounds and many have been taken directly from the pink bins across the fair.

“I’m asking you, please, please, please, don’t steal the bottles out of the pink bins. We worked really hard to get these in here and I’m here every day, morning to night working as hard as I can to the point of exhaustion with my volunteers to make sure that we get them out of there and into our trailer to help people battling cancer,” said Segal.

This is the first year Laurence has partnered with the New York State Fair. 600 pink bins are scattered across the grounds.

If you would like to donate your empty cans, you can go to Bottle’s End, 101 Montrose Ave., Syracuse, just say you would like to donate them to cancer research.
