Three North Country banks will be closing their doors for good within the next few months.
It’s apart of First Niagara’s multi-billion dollar acquisition of KeyBank.
As a result, First Niagara banks in Malone, Massena and Potsdam will be shutting down, with operations shifting to KeyBank branches already in those areas.
In total, 70 First Niagara and 36 KeyBanks will be closed across four states.
In most cases, like in northern New York, the banks closing are near either a First Niagara or KeyBank that is staying open.
The transition process will begin this coming October and last into 2017.
