Rising water continues to be a problem in the North Country. Officials in Chaumont along with inmates and National Guard troops spent the weekend continually bagging up sand to combat flooding off Lake Ontario.

Volunteers weren’t needed over the weekend, but they are asking anyone interested in helping fill sandbags to stop in at the Chaumont Fire Department off State Route 12E anytime after 5 p.m. tonight.

In Alex Bay, officials installed a floating dock next to the now underwater village dock–some of the floaters were donated by Bonnie Castle Restort.
