In the end two businesses were interested in operating the concession stand at the rebuilt Fairgrounds Ice Arena in Watertown.

Famous Dick’s Hotdogs, which is owned by Kerry Johnson, and Maggie’s on the River were the two that submitted bids.

Famous Dick’s came in with an offer of $400 a month — just fifty bucks higher than Maggie’s.

The city still has to give the official “okay,” but it’s anticipated to go with the highest bidder.

Both businesses submitted what an arena menu would look like; both would likely not be able to sell burgers, fries and other fried foods as the stand is not properly equipped.

Recently the city sent out information to 40 different area restaurants in hopes of attempting to persuade one of them to take over the stand at the $10.5 million ice arena.
