The Walmart Supercenter on Route 11 was evacuated for hours on Wednesday afternoon after state police investigated a threatening call made to the store. The Watertown Daily Times reports that the store was evacuated at 4:25 p.m. after a customer called them upset.
No customers or employees were harmed, according to troopers on scene. The store reopened about 6:50 p.m. Troopers were interviewing a person on Wednesday night that was connected to the initial call to the store. The evacuation prompted employees to sit in their cars in the store’s parking lot, driving over to nearby restaurants to use the restroom during the lengthy wait. Several motorists looking to enter the store’s parking lot were turned away.
