Watertown City Council member Mark Walczyk has spoken with Republican leaders about a run for State Assembly.

Previously, Walczyk’s name was included in a robo-call which was gauging resident’s opinions about possible challengers for Assemblywoman Addie Jenne. At the time, Walczyk told us he was unaware of the calls and that he was keeping his options open while remaining focused on Watertown.

Now, Jefferson County Republican Chair Don Coon tells the Watertown Daily Times he has spoken with Walczyk about challenging Jenne. Coon says the talks have been preliminary and that Walczyk has not committed to running for the state Assembly seat.

Democrat Jenne, meanwhile, will likely be seeking another term serving in what is considered the “River District.”
