Zika case confirmed in Oneida County

The Oneida County Health Department says it has confirmed its first case of the Zika virus.

According to health officials, the person became infected in South America.

The department says there is no threat to public health in Oneida County – noting that the virus was not acquired locally.

The department declined to specify which community the person lives in.
