Report: NY public school enrollment drops

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — Some unsettling news on the rate of enrollment in New York public schools.

According to the Empire Center, enrollment has dropped to levels last seen in the 1990s.

The decrease or more than 10 percent is in contrast with a national enrollment increase of seven percent over the same period.

The Empire Center said the difference reflects underlying demographic trends, including Upstate New York’s ongoing population decline.
