(18 NEWS) – A smartphone app can detect a serious type of heart attack almost as well as an EKG.
The Kardia Mobile device from Alivecor uses a two wire attachment to take an electrocardiogram that’s immediately sent to a cardiologist.
Researchers in Utah tested the app on about 200 patients who were having chest pain.
The device was nearly as accurate as a standard EKG in identifying a STEMI heart attack which can be fatal without quick treatment.
