2 dogs fell into the New York State Park gorge

WATKINS GLEN, NY. (WETM) – According to the Watkins Glen Fire Department’s Facebook page, they were called to rescue two dogs that had fallen into the New York State Park gorge on Wednesday morning. 

One dog was able to self-rescue to a ledge, according to the post. 

The rescue team was able to use a rope system and safety line to secure the dog into a dog harness. unfortunately, the other dog did not survive and was removed further downstream. 

The operation took about 3 hours and was accomplished with six personnel and two bystanders.
