SYLVAN BEACH, NEW YORK (WSYR-TV) A former Syracuse Police Officer, who is facing a multi-million dollar lawsuit for allegedly forcing a woman to have sex, has been arrested for witness tampering and criminal contempt.

State Police say 51-year-old Chester Thompson of Kirkville was arrested on Tuesday following an incident over the weekend.

Investigators say he violated an order of protection on June 7 and attempted to convince the woman that he was court-ordered to stay away from to drop the pending lawsuit.

Thompson was arraigned in Oneida County and is scheduled to appear in Village of Sylvan Beach court on July 11th at 4 p.m.
