The Syracuse University women’s basketball team closed the 2015-16 regular season with a 71-55 victory at Boston College on Thursday night.
With the win, Syracuse matched its program record with 23 regular season victories and 13 conference wins.
Syracuse is 13-3 in the ACC conference and 23-6 overall. Boston is 2-13 in the conference and 14-14 overall.
After a team-high 19 point-effort, senior guard Brianna Butler moved into fifth place on the program’s all-time scoring list with 1,543 career points. She now ranks 18th in NCAA Division I history with 347 career 3-point field goals made.
Junior guard Brittney Sykes followed Butler in the nights high-scorers, giving 15 points to the Orange, while junior guard Alexis Peterson added 12 points. Butler, Peterson, and Sykes have all scored in double-figures in each of the past three games.
Freshman center for the Eagles Mariella Fasoula led her team with points and rebounds, scoring 15 points in the game with 8 rebounds.
Syracuse closed the season with a nine-game conference win streak, its longest win streak in league play in school history.
The Orange will kick off postseason play in the quarterfinals of the 2016 ACC Tournament on Friday, March 4. Tipoff is set for 8 p.m. in Greensboro, North Carolina.
